Thompson Aeronautical

Aero Performance Propellers Ltd, formerly Thompson Aeronautical, is a New Zealand maker of custom-built wooden propellers for aircraft, gyrocopters and hovercraft. The company combines traditional timber craftsmanship with contemporary propeller design, producing laminated ash and mahogany propellers finished with clear coating and protective leading-edge tape. It maintains more than 54 patterns to serve a range of requirements and can discuss custom options for many non-certified engine and airframe combinations.

Alongside new propellers, Aero Performance Propellers offers refurbishment and repair services for wooden propellers affected by fading, weather or stone damage. Customers can browse propellers in different sizes and styles, including examples for specific aircraft, and enquire about pricing and availability directly.

The website also provides practical maintenance and repair resources, including articles and videos covering topics such as balancing, refinishing, tracking, leading-edge and trailing-edge repairs, and storage. The business has more than 20 years of propeller-making experience in New Zealand and ships internationally.
