THRIVEGulu, a Not-for-profit trauma recovery NGO based in Gulu, Northern Uganda, is dedicated to helping communities and individuals thrive. Their programs focus on empowering survivors of the Lord's Resistance Army insurgency and refugees from South Sudan, with a special emphasis on the unique needs of women and girls who have experienced violence. Their programs have a diverse participant base, with 70% women and 30% men, and they prioritize survivors of gender-based violence, individuals with mental illness, disabilities, and youth. Through active listening, empathy, and inclusivity, they provide mental health counseling. They also help eliminate poverty by providing microfinance, entrepreneurship venture micro-capital, and business education. Additionally, they offer informal education programs to bridge the gap in missed educational opportunities, focusing on local languages, English, and financial literacy.
