Blue Cradle Foundation

Blue Cradle is a marine conservation organisation based in Aotearoa New Zealand, working through partnerships to make ocean protection more accessible and equitable. Its mission is to advance effective, inclusive ocean literacy and action, connecting communities with the knowledge and practical support needed to care for marine environments across the Pacific.

The organisation’s work includes Blue Schools and other ocean literacy programmes for teachers and students, strategic collaboration, community-led marine protected areas and other effective conservation measures, and storytelling. Through these activities, Blue Cradle aims to equip communities with the tools, knowledge, and skills to help regenerate marine ecosystems and species. Its programmes also seek to support educators and learners to build confidence and explore future possibilities in ocean conservation.

Blue Cradle’s projects include Blue Talks, Seaweek activities, immersive learning experiences, and initiatives focused on marine biosecurity and fisheries. The organisation shares its work through reports, events, and partnerships, and is guided by the understanding that the ocean connects Pacific peoples.
