The Upper Austrian Animal Welfare Portal, operated by the Province of Upper Austria, connects people with animals in regional shelters and provides information on responsible animal care. Its search service lists more than 1,500 animals looking for homes, including dogs, cats, birds and other animals. Visitors can filter listings by species, breed, sex, status as a found or surrendered animal, and the shelter or organization caring for it. The portal also helps people locate nearby shelters and find their contact details.

Alongside animal listings, the site explains the region’s animal welfare goals and measures, and offers guidance for owners who need to arrange a responsible handover of a pet. Information is available on missing animals, adoption procedures and requirements, as well as other questions about pets, shelters and animal protection in Upper Austria. By bringing together shelter listings, practical guidance and official resources, the portal supports informed adoption and encourages respectful, lasting relationships between people and animals.
