Tierheim Helenenhof is a privately run animal shelter in Hürth, operated by the Verein zur Verhinderung von Tierquälerei, Köln und Umgebung e.V. The shelter is dedicated to caring for animals without homes, protecting them, and helping them find loving families. Its website introduces animals available for adoption and shares stories of those who have already found homes. Prospective adopters are encouraged to review the shelter’s placement criteria, adoption fees, and other requirements before deciding to take an animal into their care.

The Helenenhof also offers ways for the community to help, including financial contributions, food and items from its Amazon wish list, and volunteer support. Volunteers are currently sought to assist with the morning care of cats. Beyond the shelter, the team helps address the stray cat population by trapping and neutering free-roaming cats. The organisation shares practical information for visitors and adopters, and works with partner organisations to support animal welfare. Visits are arranged by appointment, as the shelter has no fixed opening hours.
