Tierheim Leipzig

Tierheim Leipzig is operated by Erster Freier Tierschutzverein Leipzig und Umgebung e.V., an animal welfare association serving Leipzig and the surrounding area. Its shelter cares for animals seeking new homes and helps prospective adopters find a suitable companion. Animals featured for placement include dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, fish and exotic species such as reptiles. The team invites interested people to make contact by email or telephone so staff can discuss an adoption and guide them through the process.

Beyond rehoming, the organization provides information and support related to animal care and keeping, including guidance on animal welfare and relevant laws. Its website also offers frequently asked questions and updates about shelter activities. People can report an animal they have found or one that has gone missing, and supporters can contribute through animal sponsorships, membership and donations. The association’s work brings together shelter care, responsible placement and public engagement in animal welfare.
