Tierheim Trier

Tierheim Trier is the animal shelter operated by Tierschutzverein in Trier und Umgebung e. V., serving Trier and the surrounding region. Its work focuses on helping animals in need, caring for them and finding suitable homes for dogs, cats and small animals. The shelter also shares information about animals needing placement support and provides guidance to people considering adoption.

As part of its public role, Tierheim Trier takes in found animals from Trier and animals placed in its care by the veterinary authorities. These cases have priority, so acceptance of privately surrendered pets depends on available capacity. The team can advise owners about alternatives when immediate intake is not possible, and asks finders outside Trier to confirm arrangements and costs with the responsible local authority before acting.

The association welcomes community support through donations, sponsorships, memberships and volunteering, including regular helper days. It also raises funds for facility improvements, such as modernising the dog housing area, and organises public events and information activities.
