Tierheim Freiberg, also known as Albert Schweitzer Freiberg, is a dedicated animal shelter committed to finding loving homes for its residents. The shelter actively participates in community awareness initiatives, showcasing animals available for adoption through the MDR show Tierisch Tierisch. Among their featured pets are dogs Hazel, Siela, Jerry, and Bonzo, as well as cats Peterle and Toni, along with the chinchilla Judith, all seeking new families.
In addition to adoption services, Tierheim Freiberg offers opportunities for volunteer engagements and educational programs, including a Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr, where youths learn the fundamentals of animal care. While the shelter currently faces challenges in providing online descriptions of its animals, it maintains an active presence on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram for real-time updates. Tierheim Freiberg is also involved in fundraising efforts, encouraging support through donations and sponsorships for their animal care initiatives.
