About Tierschutzverein Deggendorf
The Tierschutzverein Deggendorf und Umgebung e.V. is a dedicated non-profit organization operating the Tierheim Plattling, located at Breitfeld 2, 94447 Plattling. This dynamic team, comprised of five volunteers, oversees the shelter where approximately 1,200 animals of various species are taken in annually for care and medical treatment. The facility employs trained staff, including animal caretakers, veterinary assistants, and a veterinarian, ensuring that each animal receives the attention it needs.
The shelter focuses on rehoming not only surrendered pets but also found animals throughout the Deggendorf district. They play an active role in controlling cat populations through neutering campaigns, assisting mainly stray and feral cats. The Tierschutzverein also fosters education in responsible pet ownership through their Youth Animal Protection Program, aimed at children aged 7 to 14.
Visitors are welcome by prior appointment to explore pet adoption, and donations are accepted during specific hours. Together, they strive to enhance animal welfare in their community.
