About Tilewave
Tilewave provides map tile packing and delivery for teams building maps into their products. Its service takes source data and packs it into versioned tilesets, then delivers vector or raster tiles from edge regions close to each user’s viewport. Tiles use a consistent URL structure and are cached at the edge; once packed, each tile is immutable, supporting long-term caching and straightforward rollbacks between versions.
Tilewave supports vector tiles in MVT format and raster tiles in WebP or AVIF. Teams can style vector tiles on the client or have a style rasterised during packing. The platform handles overzooming and downsampling across zoom levels, clips tilesets to specified bounds, and includes attribution in tileset metadata. Packing runs asynchronously, with an API for checking job status and retrieving completed parts. Usage reporting breaks down requests and data transfer by tileset and zoom level. Tilewave advertises delivery through 34 edge regions and a browser-measured p95 latency of 24 milliseconds.
