Tinca Environnement

Tinca Environnement is an environmental consultancy and aquatic environments study bureau based in Schiltigheim, France. Since 2014, it has supported infrastructure development and aquatic ecosystem restoration projects across the Grand Est region. Founded by Romain Colin, the firm has completed nearly 140 studies, around half focused on conserving Unio crassus, the thick-shelled river mussel, a freshwater species highlighted in its work.

The consultancy provides biological inventories and monitoring for aquatic habitats, with particular expertise in underwater surveys carried out by a professional hydrobiologist diver when watercourses are too deep for standard methods. Its work also includes ecosystem characterization using drones, field inventories with an aquascope and tellinier, and studies of aquatic invertebrates, crayfish, aquatic mammals, plants, and freshwater mussels. Other services listed include drafting CNPN exemption applications concerning Unio crassus, rescue fishing for large freshwater bivalves, environmental DNA, and aquatic habitat assessments. Through these specialist studies and conservation-focused services, Tinca Environnement helps project leaders understand aquatic environments and address biodiversity considerations in development and restoration work.
