Established in 2006, TIS was founded by local Indonesians who were concerned about the quality of education in the country. The school's vision was to develop a learning environment that embraces international standards while staying rooted in Indonesian values. The Pre School programme follows the Montessori Method and caters to children aged 3 to 6. The Primary School programme is designed for children aged 6 to 12, following the Cambridge International Primary School Programme. Additionally, TIS offers a 6-year programme that prepares students for the GCE 'O' level/IGCSE and 'A' level examinations from the University of Cambridge.

TIS prides itself on its Integrated Learning Program, which cultivates essential skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving. Students engage in real-world problem-solving exercises aligned with the United Nations Development Plan. Furthermore, TIS is part of the UNESCO Associated School Program Network (ASPNet).

As a fully authorized test center by the University of Cambridge, TIS provides students with internationally recognized certifications. The school is also accredited by the Indonesian authorities and holds an A grade in the Accreditation exercise by BNSP (Badan Nasional Standar Pendidikan). Primary students graduate with both the Ujian Nasional Certificate and the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Certificate, while secondary students receive internationally approved certificates that open doors to higher educational opportunities.
