Tiwale, derived from the Chichewa word for let us shine or glow, is a dynamic community-based organization in Mtsiliza, Lilongwe, Malawi. Founded and led by a passionate group of young individuals, Tiwale is dedicated to empowering women, girls, and non-binary individuals through a range of educational, entrepreneurial, and economical opportunities. In a country where poverty is pervasive and education is a luxury, Tiwale strives to break the cycle of limited opportunities.

With the aim of providing sustainable solutions, Tiwale offers various initiatives. Their business workshops and micro-loans have helped 40 women kickstart their own businesses, while vocational skills training in fashion design, sewing, and tie-dye has empowered an additional 66 women. These programs have not only enabled the organization to acquire land for a community center but also facilitated after-school homework support, a library, music tech education, STEM programs, and a learning center.

Since its inception in 2012, Tiwale has directly supported 376 women and girls and reached over 20,000 youth through workshops and digital campaigns.
