About NIC
National Informatics Centre (NIC) is a premiere S&T institution of the Government of India, established in 1976. It falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and provides eGovernance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts, and other Government bodies. NIC offers a wide range of ICT services, including the Nationwide Communication Network (NICNET), which aims to decentralize planning, improve Government services, and increase transparency at the national and local Government levels.
NIC Headquarters is based in New Delhi, with Application Divisions providing Informatics Support to Ministries and Departments of the Central Government. At the State and District levels, NIC's State Centres and District Informatics Offices respectively provide Informatics Support to their respective Governments. NIC's services include bio-metric attendance, cloud services, e-Office, messaging, network security, video-conferencing, and more.
