About TNG Project
The IllustrisTNG project offers cutting-edge cosmological galaxy formation simulations, exploring the evolution of the Universe and its galaxies. With a suite of state-of-the-art simulations, IllustrisTNG studies a wide range of physical processes dictating galaxy formation, shedding light on the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy. The project comprises three volumes, each with varying simulation sizes and complexities, allowing detailed analyses of galaxy clustering, rare objects like galaxy clusters, and structural properties of galaxies.
By employing high-resolution simulations with realistic parameters and comparison between dark matter-only and baryonic physics runs, IllustrisTNG provides deep insights into galaxy evolution and structure formation. The TNG50 simulation, specifically, stands out for its unparalleled detail and coverage of Milky Way analogs, massive galaxy clusters, and satellite galaxies. With its focus on both present-day and earlier cosmic epochs, TNG50 is positioned at the forefront of high-resolution cosmological volume simulations, paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries in galaxy evolution studies
