Tobacco Free for a Healthy NJ

Tobacco-Free for a Healthy New Jersey (TFHNJ) is a statewide initiative of the New Jersey Department of Health’s Office of Tobacco Control and Prevention. It works with residents, municipalities, and health and education professionals to reduce tobacco use, protect people from tobacco and vaping exposure, and support healthier communities through education, advocacy, and proven policies.

TFHNJ offers resources for people who want to quit, including free tools, expert guidance, and personalized support at five Quit Centers across New Jersey. Many participants may qualify for free nicotine replacement therapy. Health and education professionals can access training, referral forms, and support materials, while teens can find information and quitting assistance tailored to them.

The initiative also provides guidance on smoke-free housing, workplaces, colleges, public spaces, and other settings, along with information about current tobacco laws, model policies, and retailer requirements. Its awareness efforts include No Menthol May and the Great American Smokeout. Through webinars, newsletters, and tobacco trend updates, TFHNJ shares information and encourages community participation in creating tobacco-free environments.
