Today In Georgia History is an award-winning educational initiative developed through a collaboration between the Georgia Historical Society (GHS) and Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB). Launched from 2011 to 2013, this engaging project highlights significant historical events and figures from Georgia, presenting them in concise daily segments aired on GPB television and radio. Now archived online, these segments, along with additional educational resources, serve as vital tools for teachers and students alike.
The project includes an interactive website rich with audio and video content, transcripts, and teaching materials—aligning with Georgia's social studies curriculum. Schools can access curriculum guides, writing prompts, and primary-source materials to facilitate dynamic learning experiences. The Georgia Historical Society, established in 1839, is revered for its collection of documents and artifacts related to state history, while GPB is recognized for its high-quality educational content, offering a diverse range of programs that enrich the community. Together, they foster an appreciation of Georgia’s rich history across all grade levels.
