About 東京福めぐり
Tokyo Fuku Meguri is a shrine pilgrimage and cultural walking experience connecting eight major Shinto shrines along central Tokyo, from Asakusa through the city to the former Togoshi and Hebikubo villages. Launched in 2016, the project invites visitors to enjoy a short journey through Tokyo’s history and traditions while visiting each participating shrine.
The eight shrines are Asakusa Shrine, Torikoe Shrine, Fukutoku Shrine, Namiyoke Shrine, Karasumori Shrine, Takanawa Shrine, Togoshi Hachiman Shrine, and Hebikubo Shrine. Visitors can begin at any of them and collect each shrine’s crest in a dedicated gold, folding-style pilgrimage book called an orichō. The book costs 1,700 yen, and each shrine seal costs 300 yen. After all eight seals are collected, the final shrine adds a completion mark and date, and visitors receive a commemorative sticker.
The project’s website provides shrine histories, introductory videos from the priests, participating shrine details, and access information to help visitors plan their route. It also encourages pilgrims to enjoy each shrine’s regular amulets and commemorative stamps.
