Toledo Humane Society, located in Maumee, OH, is the oldest animal welfare organization in the state of Ohio, dedicated to serving the Toledo area since 1884. As an independent organization, they do not receive government or national humane society funding, and they are not affiliated with the United Way. Their mission is to relieve the suffering of animals, prevent cruelty to animals, and provide for their humane treatment.

They care for nearly 5,000 animals each year through their life-saving programs and services. This includes providing temporary shelter and care for animals, advocating for animals' rights, intervening and preventing cruelty to animals, and educating the community about animal issues and responsible care. At the Toledo Humane Society, they believe in finding suitable and loving forever homes for all their animals.

They also take the lead in spaying and neutering every adopted animal to reduce pet overpopulation. They investigate over 2,000 animal cruelty reports annually and work towards passing legislation to protect animals. Compassion, honesty, dignity, respect, and professionalism are the core values they uphold.

Their dedicated team, led by President/CEO Stephen Heaven, consists of highly qualified and compassionate individuals in the animal welfare field.
