Tooroi is a non-governmental organization dedicated to reforestation and combatting desertification. Our mission is to protect and revive the poplars, also known as the hero trees or Heart of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. These trees possess an incredible ability to withstand extreme conditions, including drought, as long as the groundwater levels remain four meters below the surface.

Since 2006, Tooroi has been researching the distribution and population of these trees. Our team, led by experts like Ts. Nanzaddorj, Dr.

Haulenbeck, and Dr. Bumbar, has conducted extensive research and identified the easternmost and westernmost points of distribution. We have also developed an experimental research and implementation plan to expand our operations.

At Tooroi, we have set strategic goals for ourselves, including increasing forest cover, conserving biodiversity, engaging local communities, mitigating climate change, ensuring financial sustainability, and advocating for reforestation initiatives. We are working towards planting one million Populus diversifolia Schrenk trees over the next ten years.
