This independent review and comparison resource helps consumers evaluate online background check services. It tests and ranks providers based on report completeness, data depth, search speed, and value, presenting its findings in concise comparisons and detailed reviews. Its featured picks offer people-search tools that may compile publicly available information, including criminal and traffic records, court records, address history, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, associates, social profiles, and, depending on the provider, reverse phone lookups and report monitoring.

Visitors can begin a search through the site’s referral links, which direct them to partner services; the resource itself is compensated by companies whose products it reviews. The site says searches through its featured providers are confidential, but emphasizes that these services are not FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agencies and must not be used for employment, tenant, credit, or insurance decisions. It also explains its testing process, pricing considerations, and common questions to help users choose a service for personal searches, such as reconnecting with someone or reviewing their own online information
