About Historical Society of Topsail Island
The Historical Society of Topsail Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Topsail Beach, North Carolina. It connects the community with the island’s history and heritage through educational programs, museum exhibits, tours, and public events. Its Missiles & More Museum explores subjects including barrier-island natural history, pirates, Camp Davis, the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), Operation Bumblebee, and Osprey aircraft. The society also hosts the Autumn With Topsail Festival, lectures, scholarships, bingo, turtle talks, a ghost walk, and guided and self-guided walking tours.
Visitors and community members can get involved through volunteering, membership, and donations. The organization also offers event rentals at the historic Assembly Building, with space for weddings, birthdays, family reunions, showers, memorial gatherings, business meetings, and workshops.
