Brazil’s Ministry of Labour and Employment (Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, MTE) is a federal government body focused on work, employment, labour rights and workplace conditions. It provides information, public programs and services for workers, employers, unions and other organizations, through its national structure and regional labour superintendencies.

For workers, the MTE offers access to services concerning the Work and Social Security Card, unemployment insurance, salary bonuses, professional qualification and workplace complaints, including reports of electoral harassment. Employers can use services related to employment records, CAGED, RAIS and eSocial, labour mediation, temporary work registration and the Workers’ Food Program (PAT). The ministry also supports collective bargaining and union-related processes, and provides guidance on occupational safety and health, labour legislation and workplace inspections.

Its initiatives include employment and income-generation programs, professional apprenticeships, solidarity economy projects and training through Escola do Trabalhador 4.0. The MTE publishes labour-market data, reports, regulations and open government information, and provides channels for public inquiries, complaints and participation.
