About Trails Head Lodge
Trailshead Lodge is a veteran-owned outdoor lodging and recreation business in Lead, South Dakota, serving visitors to the Black Hills since 1980. Located at the heart of the Black Hills Trail System, the lodge is a convenient base for exploring the region’s forest trails and outdoor attractions. Its history is closely tied to local snowmobiling: the trail system was originally designed around the lodge’s location.
Guests can choose from lodge-view rooms, rustic cabins, and a suite above the lodge. Accommodations include options for groups of up to eight, with queen or king beds, private bedrooms or lofts, bathrooms, linens, and forest views. The Eagles Nest suite also has a small kitchenette. Trailshead offers full-service snowmobile and UTV rentals, making it easy to explore in winter or summer. On-site highlights include a restaurant and bar, and the property provides access to amenities such as a live camera feed. Set within the National Forest, the lodge advises guests that only propane grills or stoves are permitted unless they obtain a burn permit.
