Trained Parrot

Trained Parrot is an educational blog and resource site focused on building positive, practical relationships between people and companion parrots. Its articles present training as a way to communicate, encourage cooperation, and help birds adapt to household routines—not merely as a means of teaching tricks or correcting unwanted behavior. The site offers free tutorials and guides covering foundational skills such as stepping up, taming, target training, and recall, as well as tricks including waving, fetching, turning around, and playing dead.

Readers can also explore advice on biting, parrot care, health, nutrition, housing, flight, toys, and species-specific topics. Additional resources include training videos, article collections, a parrot forum, and information about the Parrot Academy. The site features parrots such as Kili, Truman, and Rachel, and points visitors to the Parrot Wizard Store, which offers training perches, trees, and stands.

Trained Parrot also promotes Michael Sazhin’s book, The Parrot Wizard’s Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots, as a resource for his approach to parrot keeping and training
