NZ Harness Trainers & Drivers Association

The New Zealand Harness Racing Trainers and Drivers Association Incorporated represents and supports licensed participants across New Zealand’s harness racing industry, including trainers, drivers and stable-hands, whether they work full-time or part-time. Its national structure brings together the Northern, Greater Canterbury and Otago/Southland branches under a National Council, giving members regional connections and a forum to discuss industry matters.

The Association advocates for license-holders by representing their interests in industry bodies and licensing committees, and by maintaining contact with government departments, the New Zealand Racing Board, Harness Racing New Zealand and individual clubs. It also works with clubs and industry partners to encourage collaboration and improve conditions for trainers and drivers. Regional branch activity helps connect clubs, trainers and drivers and contributes local perspectives to discussions.

Through its website, the Association shares current news, downloadable resources, health and safety information, and updates relevant to members. These include notices on racing rules, conduct, safety and stewards’ enforcement.
