About Mission X: train like an astronaut
Mission X: train like an astronaut is a free educational project developed by NASA, in collaboration with the European Space Agency and the UK Space Agency. This project aims to inspire students aged 8-12 to learn about science, nutrition, exercise, and space exploration. By participating in the Walk to the Moon Challenge, teams of students can engage in a series of Mission X activities and earn steps.
These steps contribute to the collective goal of the Mission X mascots, Luna and Leo, walking 384,400km - the distance from Earth to the Moon. Since its launch in 2011, Mission X has reached over half a million students worldwide. With the guidance of space scientists and fitness professionals, this project offers an exciting way for students to gain knowledge and experience the world of astronauts.
