About Transparencia Col
Transparencia por Colombia is a brand dedicated to promoting transparency and combating corruption in the country. They provide journalists with tools for investigating corruption-related issues, particularly in relation to political campaign financing. As part of their efforts, they recently organized a workshop called 'Póngale la lupa: herramientas para el seguimiento a la financiación política electoral' (Put a magnifying glass: tools for monitoring political campaign finance).
This workshop equipped journalists with the skills to conduct investigative journalism and engage in social monitoring and citizen oversight in their respective territories. During the workshop, journalists were introduced to the management of resources by candidates for public office, both during the campaign and when they become public officials. By knowing the campaign funders, journalists can track the contracting processes and the use of public resources allocated to implement campaign programs.
The workshop consisted of informative sessions, practical exercises, and networking opportunities, where journalists from various media outlets shared and explored collaborative working opportunities. Transparencia por Colombia believes in empowering journalists and fostering collaborative efforts to address the challenges faced in investigative journalism, such as funding constraints, limited access to information, and security concerns. Through their workshops and initiatives, they strive to create a network of journalists working together to find solutions and tackle corruption issues across the country
