About Trans Youth Equality
The Trans Youth Equality Foundation (TYEF) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has provided education, advocacy, and support for transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming young people and their families since 2007. It focuses on youth ages 2β18 and works with families, educators, organizations, and service providers to promote safe, caring environments and improve understanding of young peopleβs unique needs.
TYEF offers a summer camp featuring activities such as arts, hiking, kayaking, yoga, and peer support, alongside opportunities for participants to build friendships. Its resources include guidance for youth, parents, educators, and providers, as well as legal information, videos, books, and support groups. The foundation also provides workshops and training on transgender inclusion and advocacy for schools, camps, counsellors, and other groups.
Through its TransWaves podcast, TYEF shares perspectives from youth, families, allies, providers, activists, and others. The organization also operates a Trans Youth Emergency Fund to assist vetted families seeking safety and necessary supplies, and welcomes donations, volunteers, and community participation.
