TRAPPIST-1 is a groundbreaking planetary system located 12 parsecs (39 light years) from our Solar System in the constellation Aquarius. Centered around the ultra-cool star TRAPPIST-1, which is significantly less massive than the Sun, this system boasts at least seven Earth-sized planets. Discovered through advanced telescopes, including the TRAPPIST and Spitzer space telescopes, these planets exhibit rocky compositions and have sizes and masses comparable to Earth and Venus. The unique transiting nature of these planets allows researchers to study their atmospheres and potential climates, providing a glimpse into terrestrial worlds beyond our Solar System.

The TRAPPIST-1 project is dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of these distant bodies and exploring the potential for biological evidence in their environments. The official webpage serves as a resource for the latest research, artistic depictions, and educational materials, reflecting the awe and possibilities offered by this remarkable system. With its focus on ultra-cool stars, TRAPPIST-1 offers invaluable insights into planetary formation and the search for life beyond Earth.
