About Brouwerij der Trappisten van Westmalle
Westmalle Trappist is a renowned brand known for its brewing of Trappist beer. However, this is just a small part of the lives of the monks who reside at the Westmalle Abbey. Established in 1794, the abbey is part of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance, also known as the Trappists.
The monks dedicate themselves to a life of communal prayer and labor. In addition to their brewing, the abbey emphasizes the importance of brotherly love and solidarity with all people. The monks live a secluded life of contemplation and prayer, but they remain connected to the concerns and needs of others.
Westmalle Trappist offers a range of high-quality beers including the Extra, Dubbel, and Tripel. These beers are brewed using the purest ingredients and are now available exclusively at select retailers and in the hospitality industry. In addition to brewing beer, the monks also produce their own Trappist cheese.
