Trees App, operated by Trees Research Inc, is a service that helps users earn money from unused internet bandwidth while supporting reforestation. Available for Android, macOS, and Windows, the app runs in the background after installation, sharing unused internet through its network and building a user balance over time. Trees App says it does not access personal files, browsing history, or private data.
With every payout, the company says it plants a real tree in the user’s name and records its GPS coordinates so users can track where it grows. Its current planting projects focus on reforestation in Kenya. The company reports that its community has planted 2,265 trees, with an estimated annual carbon offset of 11 tons and 1.1 acres of land planted.
Users can estimate potential earnings and environmental impact with an online calculator; actual results vary by device and location. Once a balance reaches $5, users can withdraw through PayPal or a bank transfer, donate to charity, or redeem gift cards from more than 137 vendors.
