About Triangle Train
Triangle’s Train, operated by the North Carolina Railway Museum, offers visitors a chance to experience railroad history aboard the New Hope Valley Railway in North Carolina. The historic line follows four miles of track through pine woods and across a trestle, with hour-long round-trip excursions between Bonsal and New Hill. Diesel locomotives power the rides; steam excursions are not currently available. Food and drinks may be offered on select ride days.
The railway hosts seasonal and special events for families and visitors, including the Track or Treat Halloween Express, Santa Express, Veterans Day rides, and S’mores and Suds. Sensory-friendly fall and winter excursions provide a quieter experience, with advance warnings before train horns. Guests can also book private caboose rides, birthday celebrations, group visits, charters, weddings, and other events. Additional offerings include Operate-a-Loco experiences, a garden railroad, caboose exhibits, and the Goldston Depot. Through memberships, sponsorships, donations, and volunteer opportunities, the organization invites the community to help maintain and operate the railway, preserve railroad heritage, and support education about rail technology.
