The Tri-Centric Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the remarkable work of American composer and musician Anthony Braxton. We are committed to preserving and disseminating Braxton's scores, recordings, and writings, as well as producing performances and fostering education in his unique musical approach. At Tri-Centric, we maintain Braxton's extensive archive, which includes over 400 scores and parts, as well as a vast collection of writings, cassettes, videos, and ephemera.
Our efforts have been recognized and supported by prestigious institutions such as the GRAMMY Museum® Grant Program and the CLIR Recordings At Risk grant. The name Tri-Centric is derived from Braxton's own philosophy, as expressed in his three-volume collection, The Tri-Axium Writings. Braxton rejects dichotomies and embraces multiple perspectives, believing that creativity encompasses composition, improvisation, intuition, and an exploration of the past, present, and future.
Led by Artistic Director Anthony Braxton and managed by Carl Testa, our dedicated team is passionate about promoting Braxton's vision and pushing the boundaries of musical expression
