Trollfjell Geopark

Trollfjell UNESCO Global Geopark is a protected area of internationally significant geological heritage on the coast between Nordland and Trøndelag, Norway. Described as the world’s northernmost geopark, it brings together six municipalities where distinctive geology, local communities, and stories of trolls and coastal life are closely connected. The geopark works to safeguard and promote this natural heritage for future generations through education, sustainable community development, and visitor management.

Visitors can explore the area using the geopark’s online map and discover its landscapes and cultural stories. Highlights include Torghatten, the renowned mountain with a walk-through opening; Leka, home to Norway’s Geological National Monument; and the extensive shallow waters of the strandflat, suited to exploration and sea activities. The region also encompasses the wild landscapes and active reindeer husbandry of Lomsdal-Visten / Njaarken National Park, the fjord-to-mountain scenery of Heilhornet, and the Vega archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage site that also lies within the geopark.
