Trucker 2056

Ratas Games is the independent studio behind Trucker 2056, a narrative-driven trading RPG set in a dystopian future Finland. Designed, developed, and written by Lasse Rintakumpu, the game draws inspiration from late-1980s and early-1990s classics by Origin and MicroProse. Players take on the role of a trucker seeking medicine for their dying daughter. A series of jobs for a local crime syndicate leads into a wider struggle involving the oppressive Institute and resistance factions challenging its authoritarian rule. The story explores community, home, environmental collapse, corruption, and fascism.

Trucker 2056 combines point-and-click storytelling, resource-gathering missions, trade between cities, and card-based combat. Players can buy and upgrade truck equipment, with each item unlocking combat cards shaped by their character’s abilities. The available demo features locations across seven cities, four factions, dynamic NPC dialogue, missions, trade goods, and a functioning in-game economy. It is available for Windows and macOS through Steam. Ratas Games also shares development news and updates through Bluesky and maintains a game roadmap, logbook, and press kit.
