About True North Vrygrond
True North is a non-profit organization that aims to pioneer Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives in marginalized communities in South Africa. Founded in 2007, True North seeks to bring meaningful change through education, research, and the sharing of technology. Their journey began with a data gathering exercise to understand the challenges faced by vulnerable communities and assess the capacity within the non-profit sector.
Over time, they focused their efforts on Vrygrond and Overcome Heights, two poverty-ridden communities in South Africa. With a population of approximately 42,000 people, Vrygrond became the center of True North's Early Childhood Development project. As a registered Non-Profit Company and Public Benefit Organization, True North is dedicated to setting a new standard for the education, nurture, and holistic development of pre-school children and caregivers.
