The Truffle Baron of Sutton is a small, boutique truffière located near Canberra, close to the New South Wales village of Sutton. Established in 2006 on the sunny, north-facing slopes of the owners’ farm, the truffière produced its first harvest in 2012. Since then, it has grown its production while maintaining a focus on selling fine-quality truffles.
The farm’s 400 trees include English oak, French or holly oak, and hazelnut, which produce French black truffles, or Tuber melanosporum. Known as “black diamonds,” these prized ingredients are valued by chefs and food lovers for their distinctive appeal. The Baron’s truffles are enjoyed across eastern Australia, including in Brisbane and Sydney restaurants, and have also reached customers in Hong Kong, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, the United States, and France.
Owners Jane and Andrew support local producers and agriculture, and are committed to helping people understand where food comes from and feel more connected to the land. Their business brings locally grown truffles from their Sutton farm to cooks, restaurants, and connoisseurs.
