Truro Taekwondo is a non-profit martial arts club serving Truro and nearby Blackwater, welcoming beginners and experienced students aged five and above. It teaches traditional ITF-style Taekwondo through Global Taekwondo International, whose recognised grading system allows students’ belt achievements to be acknowledged internationally. Classes build fitness, discipline, practical self-defence and technique, with particular emphasis on kicking.
Training is offered on Mondays and Fridays. Friday sessions are arranged by age, experience and suitability, including groups for younger new starters and for higher grades, teens and adults. New members can try two weeks of training free, with no joining fee.
Tuition is £26 per month for one student, with reduced family rates; an annual £25 licence and insurance payment also applies. The club offers guidance on training kit, grading and study materials, and opportunities to enter national competitions in sparring, patterns and breaking. Instruction is led by John Garcia, a third-dan instructor.
The club also describes safeguarding and safe-practice measures, including warm-ups, supervised training and enhanced DBS checks for instructors
