About Trust and Justice
The National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice focuses on enhancing relationships and trust between communities and the criminal justice system. Their mission is to promote public and scholarly understanding of the issues affecting these interactions. Founded in 2014 with a grant from the U.
S. Department of Justice, this project is led by the National Network for Safe Communities at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, in collaboration with partners like the Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School and the Urban Institute. The National Initiative implements trust-building interventions in pilot sites across the U.
S. and develops programs for marginalized communities. They work on enhancing procedural justice, reducing implicit bias, and fostering reconciliation between law enforcement and minority groups.
