About Trust-Based Philanthropy Project
Trust-Based Philanthropy Project is a transformative five-year initiative that aims to address the power imbalances between foundations and nonprofits. Launched in January 2020, this peer-to-peer funder initiative acknowledges that these imbalances reflect the social, political, and economic inequalities in our society that nonprofits strive to overcome. The project envisions a world where relationships are built on vulnerability, transparency, and humility, and where funders prioritize the well-being and trust of community and nonprofit leaders.
By partnering with regional networks and fostering peer learning, the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project supports foundation staff and board members on their journey towards trust-based philanthropy. The project aims to create awareness, provide tools, and foster connections to enable individual, institutional, and sector-wide transformation. Founded by industry leaders, this collaborative effort invites funders to embody trust-based principles and contribute to an inclusive, impactful, and authentic philanthropic ecosystem.
Join this movement and help redefine the power dynamic between funder and grantee through trust, collaboration, and active listening. Connect with the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project today to learn more and advocate for a trust-based approach to philanthropy
