Traditional Shotokan Karate-do Federation of South Australia

TSKF South Australia is the South Australian branch of the Traditional Shotokan Karate-Do Federation, a not-for-profit association of Shotokan karate dojos and an affiliate of the International Shotokan Karate Federation. With an open-door policy, the organisation offers karate training and competition opportunities for children and adults. Its teaching follows the traditions of Shotokan founder Gichin Funakoshi and Master Nakayama of the Japan Karate Association, while emphasising respect, personal development and good character.

TSKF teaches all aspects of karate through its affiliated dojos and supports members with gradings, seminars and competitions. Chief Instructor Takahashi Shihan, a 9th Dan and recipient of the Order of Australia Medal, has guided the organisation’s instruction for many years. Japanese assistants also continue to tour Australian dojos, helping maintain its connection to traditional teaching.

The association shares dojo information, competition results, event announcements and details about member protection and sports vouchers. Its events include state championships and national competitions, providing opportunities for practitioners to participate and develop their skills.
