Tierheim am Arboretum is run by Tierschutzverein Bad Soden/Sulzbach am Taunus und Umgebung e. V., a local animal welfare association based in Sulzbach, near Frankfurt. Set beside the Arboretum, the shelter cares for dogs, cats and small animals and works to find suitable homes for them.

Its website provides adoption information and questionnaires for prospective dog and cat adopters, introduces animals currently seeking homes, and shares guidance on responsible pet care, including cat health and safety. The organisation also supports a pigeon welfare project at the Main-Taunus-Zentrum and offers information about injured pigeons, found animals and wildlife needing help. Beyond animals living at the shelter, the association publicises rehoming opportunities with current owners and collaborates with animal welfare groups supporting dogs in need, including in Italy.

People can contribute through donations, memberships, animal sponsorships, volunteering, dog walking and practical support. The association also seeks help with fundraising, communications, administration, events and minor repairs, reflecting its community-based approach to animal care and protection
