About Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Festival is a renowned event that celebrates the historic Royal gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians after the Second World War, symbolizing international friendship. This festival not only honors the Canadian troops' significant role in liberating the Netherlands and Europe but also commemorates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa during World War II, making her the only royal personage ever born in Canada. Since 1953, the Canadian Tulip Festival has been a vibrant celebration of the tulip, an iconic symbol of friendship and peace.
The festival was initially suggested by the widely acclaimed photographer Malak Karsh, and it has since grown into a grand event that offers various activities and attractions for visitors to enjoy.
