About Tulsa History
Tulsa Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and presenting the rich history of Tulsa. With a mission to illuminate the past, enrich the present, and inspire future generations, they collect and preserve valuable resources that showcase the city's heritage. Established in 1963, the society houses an extensive collection of over 400,000 photographs, books, maps, documents, textiles, architectural elements, and personal artifacts.
In 1997, they acquired the historic Sam Travis Mansion, which has been renovated and expanded to serve as their museum's new home. The mansion holds significant importance as it represents Tulsa's Golden Age during its rise as the Oil Capital of the World. Through exhibits, programs, tours, and research opportunities, Tulsa Historical Society & Museum offers a unique and engaging experience for visitors, researchers, and children alike.
Located at 2445 South Peoria, Tulsa, Oklahoma, the museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm
