Turbine Aeronautics, also known as TurbAero, is developing gas-turbine powerplants for manned and unmanned aircraft. Its mission is to become a leading provider of engines for aircraft below 400 horsepower. The company’s technology combines a scalable core architecture with a fuel-saving recuperator, and its design expertise spans 50–400 hp turboprops, 0.2–2.2 kN turbofans and turbojets, and 30–200 kW turbogenerators.
TurbAero serves experimental and certificated aircraft owners, defense organizations, flight-training schools, aircraft suppliers to law enforcement and border-control agencies, and hybrid-electric aircraft manufacturers. Its technologies are intended for general aviation, military intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, kinetic and logistics vehicles, ab-initio flight training, hybrid-electric eVTOL and VTOL aircraft, and logistics applications.
The company presents its turboprop as an alternative to piston engines, highlighting lower weight and smaller size, smoother and simpler operation, and enhanced reliability and safety. It also cites fuel efficiency similar to piston engines and compatibility with non-leaded fuels and sustainable aviation fuels. Turbine Aeronautics operates in Australia and the United States.
