Turftreiërs

De Turftreiërs is a carnival association based in America, the Dutch community whose local celebrations and traditions are at the heart of its activities. The organisation brings residents together through an annual carnival programme featuring festive gatherings, performances, dancing and community events. Its activities include the carnival parade and prize ceremony, zittingsavonden (entertainment evenings), and celebrations led by the association’s prince and princess, adjudants and carnival council. De Turftreiërs also supports youth carnival, with a dedicated youth court and committee, and organises the Boorebrullef, a traditional farm wedding celebration with its own wedding couple and entourage.

The association shares news, photographs, films, song lyrics and historical material about its activities, helping preserve memories and local carnival customs. Volunteers play an important role in making the festivities possible. The group’s programme brings together children, adults, performers and community groups, with events such as the parade attracting creative entries and audiences. De Turftreiërs also marks major milestones, including its announced 6×11-year anniversary celebration, reflecting a longstanding commitment to carnival, tradition and community spirit in America.
