Turton Tower is a historic manor house in Chapeltown, North Turton, within the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen. A scheduled ancient monument and Grade I listed building, it has developed over more than 600 years, beginning as a medieval stone tower house built in the 1400s. Later alterations reflect the changing needs and tastes of the people who lived there, while the house continues to evoke earlier periods of history.
Set among extensive gardens and woodlands, Turton Tower offers visitors a distinctive heritage experience. Its house is open during the main season, from March 25 to November 1, 2026, Wednesday to Sunday, including most bank holidays, from 11am to 4pm. The grounds are open daily throughout the year.
The site also provides education sessions for pupils, using role play and object handling to encourage exploration of history. For couples seeking a distinctive setting, the Tudor manor house, with Victorian additions, is available for wedding ceremonies. The house is scheduled to close to the public on November 1, 2026
