PRENTUS Charity

Private Enterprise Tutoring Scholarships (PRENTUS) is a registered Australian charity and non-profit organisation backed by the Australian Tutoring Association. It provides targeted financial support to Australian children who need help with literacy and/or numeracy and whose families are experiencing financial need. Its vision is to make this support available to every Australian child who needs it.

Scholarship eligibility is assessed using evidence of learning needs and social disadvantage. Student results, including NAPLAN or other standardised tests, may help establish eligibility. Successful applicants receive funding to access a private tutor. PRENTUS uses assessment information to develop an Individual Tutoring Plan in collaboration with the child’s parent or carer, tutor and school. Tutoring is delivered in one-hour sessions, with feedback and progress reporting shared among the people involved. At the end of the program, the school or an independent third party conducts a post-test, and a final report summarises outcomes and recommendations.

PRENTUS also accepts donations to fund scholarships.
