About Tamarind Valley Collective
Tamarind Valley Collective is a community-led regenerative ecosystem set across 98 acres of the Melagiri Hills near Kanakapura, Karnataka. Since 2017, 53 families have worked to restore land once depleted by exploitative farming, using permaculture and reforestation to nurture a food forest and wildlife habitat. The collective’s approach brings together environmental health, long-term economic viability, social equity, and efficient use of resources. Its landscape supports more than 100 bird species and forms part of the wider Melagiri wildlife corridor.
Visitors can explore the farm through day trips featuring guided tours, bird watching, hiking, star gazing, and time to relax outdoors. Overnight stays include opportunities such as sunset hikes, campfires, and farm tours. Tamarind Valley Collective also welcomes team outings, volunteers, and groups interested in permaculture or bamboo craft workshops. Organizations and facilitators can host retreats, biodiversity walks, and other events, including camping-based programs. The website also introduces the land, its people, and its regeneration journey, and explains how membership in the collective works.
